The full Federal court will hear an appeal by Channel Nine against the finding in favour of IceTV. See this entry for details of the case. Judges Black, Lindgren and Sackville will hear the case. The hearing will be held over two days at the court in Queens Square, Sydney on the 25th and 26th of February.
While the outcome will be quite interesting in terms of copyright law as it applies to television schedules, it will have a particularly significant impact on IceTV as it is likely to dictate whether Nine will have to pay IceTV’s costs of defending the matter.
Yeah, the accuracy hasn't been crash hot of late on the HD channels.
But in all honesty, it even confuses me sometimes when I'm watching it. I've noticed a couple of times that there have been some episodes of According to Jim that only run for the first 15 minutes or so, and then they start a new episode (to match the SD broadcast).
I really think Seven are screwing the whole HD thing up badly. Ten are nowhere near as bad, except for now So You Think You Can Dance is on there will be large overruns.
Yes I guess it's possible that the stations are screwing with things a bit but if you read the posts over at Ice's forums it's not just HD stuff they're having trouble with. Some users are getting quite annoyed and the Ice guys often just ignore their posts. It's not looking fantastic from where I sit.
You'd be surprised how many posts there are there on a regular basis about programming mistakes ranging from poorly formatted titling to incorrect repeat flagging etc.
Most of them are relating to repeat flags and the others about sports (with the year thingy) . Which is why I haven't noted them. I actually don't record that much FTA, and if I do it's usually the latest stuff that I would watch if there wasn't a conflict.
I think children shows are often the issue for the guide providers.
A couple are shows that were late changes to the scheduled shows made by the networks.
Yep. It's certainly not all their fault but it definitely degrades the value of the service if its not reliable. Let's hope things settle down over time.
Yeah, or the networks wake up and decide to play ball. Hopefully Nine get smashed in the appeal (bringing this back to topic) and something happens. Maybe TIVO will bring them back to heel.
Seven have done an awful job of their multi-channeling. They run bits and pieces of shows as well as those god awful "Seven HD Breakaway" advertorials. Are they trying to drive people away from this 'new' technology.
Ten actually seem to have their head around it and do a pretty good job of syncing things up
