Exclamation Support for Ten HD and 7 HD is here

Quote:
Great News… for those lucky enough to have a High Definition Media Centre, PVR or Mac TV Tuner device, there is now full guide data for both 7HD & TenHD within the IceTV Guide for all IceTV users to enjoy!
http://www.icetv.com.au/news/?p=103

The new guides come with an important note:
Quote:
Please Note: While producing our own IceTV Guide listings for both 7HD & TenHD we noticed that there is still a vast amount of content simultaneously broadcasted on both the SD & HD Channels with the bulk of true HD TV Shows in the early afternoon and evening periods. We also noticed that some programs are beginning ahead of the scheduled time (for example 2 minutes before the hour), so we recommend that all IceTV Users use both pre-padding & post-padding when setting up recordings if they want to help guarantee that they get the entire program. We believe this is because there is still a lack of ‘fillers’ such as TV commercials or advertisements available for these Channels at their infancy, but as the Networks rollout more HD content this will soon settle down and become less of an issue.

Re: Support for Ten HD and 7 HD is here

It doesn't really matter at this point... they're both the same channel.

However, Ten's website says "If you have a high definition receiver, then Network TEN is best viewed on Channel 12 TEN HD."
http://ten.com.au/ten/digital-tv-on-ten.html

So maybe 12 is the go

Re: Support for Ten HD and 7 HD is here

Shame about WIN and SC not supporting the HD although I would have though they would simply just televised whatever their 10 and Nine were showing. (Central Victoria)

I recorded journeyman last week and all I got was test pattern landscaps they've been showing...I got more content when they were testing them...

Re: Support for Ten HD and 7 HD is here

The regional channels apparently have to upgrade their equipment to re-broadcast the stream. Or at least that's what they are saying.

At least Prime Southern is doing the straight Seven HD feed.

I'm not sure what WIN will do, as IIRC they are pretty much a standalone broadcaster who pay license fees to Nine. They recently re-negotiated their contract, but I don't recall if there was anything about HD channels in it.

IceTV have updated their guides to reflect the fact that regional channels suck.

Yeah, it doesn't worry me too much. I just would have thought if they would synced everything with the realise date of the City channels

Re: Support for Ten HD and 7 HD is here

I suspect this has been covered elsewhere and it's somewhat off topic, but you know that when the last test match was on all your end times were wrong... it tended to finish in Melbourne around 9pm, your guide said 8:30.. spose won't be an issue this time..

Re: Support for Ten HD and 7 HD is here

I know I'm being "anal" here, but my only gripe with the addition of these channels is that I can't see my entire channel list on one screen. I now have to scroll down. Is there any way to make the guide fit all information on the screen regardless of how many channels you have?? I have ABC, SBS, ABC2, 7, 7HD, 9, 10, 10HD. (So I miss one channel if I look at the guide and have to scroll down).

Re: Support for Ten HD and 7 HD is here

Very Valid and real problem.

Can the Display of the IceTv Guide be condensed to fit all channels onto one screen or at very least condense it to fit 8 to 10 stations

Re: Support for Ten HD and 7 HD is here

are you talking within MCE? If so, then it's obviously nothing to do with Ice but MS. And the answer is no.

Re: Support for Ten HD and 7 HD is here

Granted, that makes sense.

But them how come every other Media centre (Media Portal, Myth etc) all show the guide the exact same way?

Re: Support for Ten HD and 7 HD is here

The IceTV EPG is delivered as just text, so the layout is completely determined by the media center or PVR it's on. I definitely agree that this is an issue though.

And it's only going to get worse with more channels being added. There has to be a point where you scroll though... you couldn't really have 20 channels on screen and still have it legible from the sofa.

Re: Support for Ten HD and 7 HD is here

There are some shortcuts you can use, Ch+ and Ch- scroll a full page up or down, so at least there aren't multiple button presses required.
