Question Ice remote client screwed - how to completely remove??

Hi Guys,

Have aVista box, and use Ice TV.

Guide works great, but for some reason the remote record has got screwed.

If I log onto Ice TV and set up a recording, it never gets sent to the box, and always shows QUEUED, and never sends the info to the box.

Have uninstalled/reinstaled, and even tried using a diffent box name.

Still no joy.

The test, etc, on setup always comes back OK. Also, ice Tv remote has picked up the recordings that I have scheduled thru the program guide on the box.

So, that also indicates that there is some communication going on between the Ice TV server, and my media centre.

I have just set up a second Vista box, and installed the Ice interactive, and can remote program it without probs.

So, I am thinking something has got screwed on my number 1 machine, and I need to TOTALLy remove the Ice software/settings and start again...

Any ideas??

Firstly install the latest Ice Remote version from their website. They removed support for all but the latest version (2.0.16 I think).

Secondly, I never got it to work properly until I copied a shortcut to the IceTVInteractive program into my Startup directory. That made sure it was started at boot and ever since then everything has worked fine.

Thanks for the reply.

Already using latest Interactive, and it starts each time with Vista no probs...

Well, the complete removal of IceTV also requires you to delete a reg key. The instructions are over at IceTV.com.au IIRC.

Could it be a setting on the windows firewall? What does the IceTV log say when it tries to update?

Re: Ice remote client screwed - how to completely remove??

When you said that you used a different name, do you mean that you created a new device through the IceTV site & then associated your machine with that device?

It could be worse - you could have a Foxtel iQ & occaisionally get someone else's remotely scheduled recordings happening.

Yes..... like The View, Oprah & Dr Phil. Unless the dog watches these shows while I'm out (& I don't think she can use the Harmony remote), then there's no one here who watches them.

Dunno why ICE cant write and uninstall script that takes all the reg keys out. Lazy bastards.

The stuff is in HKLM\Software\IceTV. Just delete the whole IceTV key after uninstalling.

Please suggest this via support@icetv.com.au. I'll also follow it up internally.

If there's something the uninstall is missing, then I'm sure the dev team can fix it.
