Exclamation Guide Error for F1 this weekend!!!

I have just posted this on the IceTV forums and am repeating it here for the benefit of members.

Quote:
If you have a series record set for the Formula 1 you may want to check it will record. The actual race being telecast early on Monday morning is listed in the IceGuide with exactly the same sub-title and blurb as the qualifying on Sunday morning. As a result my Media Centre has looked at the sub-title "Round 13 Monza (Qualifying)" and assumed this is a repeat so has not scheduled it to record - Media Center reports "Another airing is being recorded on 9/9/2007".

Please IceTV, can you correct this and proof better. I only spoted this by accident and would have been most upset if I had missed this round.
Hopefully IceTV will correct thsi one. A bit of a stuff up on their part, just as the season was getting interesting. If you are an F1 fan and have series recording set better check it will record.

Angry Re: Guide Error for F1 this weekend!!!

I am a fan and Rugby (which I hate) world cup was recorded instead of the Qualifying as time was 1 hour (I think, maye 1.5h out!!) I have not been happy with IceTV lately, I pay for the guide and there is little info on HD channels which I can't understand why since on most channels it is similar to SD, even if it is SD content it would still be better giving a description in this channel list rather than Unknown!!!

I also get cut off end of shows from time to time and always buffer 20 minutes at end through IceTV settings so that is also an annoyance. You need to pick up your game a little IceTV. ....will pass onto IceTV as well on their site, but I would like a response/explanation here please.

There is a reason for this and it is because they can't guarantee that channels will show SD content on the HD channel, so they only put on shows that they know are HD. However there is an option in your account settings that allows you to copy SD details to HD channels so that the guide will be filled.

It's been there for months. They do this so you have a choice.

The only hiccup is now that 7 are showing different programs on HD than SD they are scrambling for a solution.

So what you are telling me is that this really isn't an option as 7 are doing something different now...this is core to IceTV business can they let us know when it is sorted ASAP, do channel 7 show what will be on anywhere? also i think this is an issue for ABC, so only 9 and 10 this is going to be a solution for currently but they are also thinking of changing so it is not the same, so I think this is not a reasonable stop gap anymore. IceTV need to fill in the data that is known as upscaled or SD broadcast populate it and make sure the SD and HD logos are easily seen and differentiated...Maybe even more info like... SD480i/p, SD576i/p, SD720p, or HD1080i or 1080p...should any channels start doing FullHD and maybe colour code the listings or logos so it is very clear.

Re: Guide Error for F1 this weekend!!!

I'm sure they will, but Ice are probably restricted more so in obtaining this data than other providers (who may get their info from other sources).

At the moment there seems to only be a press release from 7 that outlines the changes to the guide. This is not an ideal solution for anyone, as it doesn't even make the TV guides that 90% of the population will use. I'm sure Ice are investigating the legal issues on whether they can use the press release information (without descriptions or other copyrighted material) in their guides.

They indicated that 7HD would most likely become a separate channel to 7SD and the copy guide data will be removed from that. They would most likely fill it with SD stuff (as indicated in your other thread they are revisiting their processes).

As for ABC HD, I don't even have it selected (only ABC and ABC2) so I wouldn't know if they broadcast something different to ABC or whether or not the guide data is full.

As it stands the other two commercial HD channels haven't started broadcasting different programs so it remains a viable alternative. Just don't record something on 7HD late at night if you want the SD programming.

The fact is Seven are being plenty dirty about this, it's affecting everyone regardless of whether they use a MCE rig or just a plain old set-top box. TBH, I'm frustrated with the situation myself and would like Ice to resolve it, but Seven aren't making it easy.

Oh, and how about that F1 hey.... interesting couple of days ahead.

See here http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/comm...tml#post170912 for response from IceTV. thanks Daniel, but the F1 issue wern't adressed I am not that annoyed by it...as I am kinda glad F1 is over as I can reclaim a few hours each week for other more productive pursuits.

I will continue in other thread dgaust, this one is off topic too much already.
