IceTV Already recording series problem Vista

Series that I have previously recoreded seem to have dropped off and when I go in and click record series from the guide no record icon shows up. I go back in and select one off record and it shows up fine but I still want to record series so I then select record series and get the dialouge "already recording series" ... Then would you like to add this one off program to the series. I click yes and then the red icon changes to the series icon but the series is not recording. In this case it is MASH and even though the series icon shows no other MASH episodes are marked to record. This has occured on 3 programs this week. I guess somehow I will have to nuke the guide and start again. I either need some help in fixing the problem or instructions on how to nuke the guide and recordings scheduled then start again.

Re: IceTV Already recording series problem Vista

If you've had the EPG adding channels after an auto (opportunistic) Vista scan then it may happen that the old channel (with series recordings assigned to it) gets nabbed by a newly scanned channel. When you check the guide and see channels disappearing and/or being added. e.g. SBS or Channel 7 seem to do it frequently for many people and let's say you set a whole bunch of series recordings on SBS at the channel 3 position and after the EPG muck-up SBSHD takes channel 3 position, you do a rescan or try reassigning channels, put SBS Digital 1 back at channel 3 or simply perform a fresh default scan, then reschedule recordings for SBS channel 3, for some reason, it will have stored the same scheduled recordings for SBSHD - therefore you will be alerted to a 3 way recording conflict whenever you try and record a second channel. VMC will bring up the resolution dialogue and there it will show duplicated SBS series being recorded!

There are serious problems with Vista Media Centre (posibly only affecting DBT digital countries - maybe just Australia given we do not have an official EPG). These issues are being looked into by Microsoft now and there are currently several test machines trying to duplicate certain failures and several people testing their rigs having various states of Vista 'undress'. I hope this info helps!

Re: IceTV Already recording series problem Vista

Ok thanks Neilwa I have done a few rescans testing out different tuners and Video cards to troubleshoot Jerky video being recorded and I think I have nailed all the problems. What would I need to do to clear out all the guide info and start again? And what do you mean by "auto (opportunistic) Vista scan"?

Re: IceTV Already recording series problem Vista

You could manually go through the programs you know have series recordings and hit the edit series recordings dialogue and change it back so that it no longer records the programs. Make sure you also cancel the series as well as removing it. Otherwise you could remove the entire recordings data file from C:\Documents And Settings\All Users\ApplicationData\Microsoft\eHome\Recording\Re cordings.xml When you start redoing all your scheduled recordings VMC will put a new file in place.

The opportunistic scanning I mentioned is being looked at currently as a possible culprit for throwing the EPG out of whack. If it performs a background scan and finds a new service or fails to find an old service previously scanned (e.g. maybe due to weak reception) it reorders the default scanning line up and then the EPG loses its relationship links with some channels. Currently a lot of people are investigating why this is happening and trying to reproduce the faults.

Call IceTV support. They are really helpful.
I had to stop PIMP and delete all files from c:\user\username\AppData\Roaming\IceTV
and start PIMP and download guide to fix my problems.
