Question Ice TV problems..UPDATE..

UPDATE....UPDATE....UPDATE....

I have a diary that I started keeping of rebuild dates - software additions - hardware changes etc etc and I've noticed that everytime after I do a major OS change (ie: reformat - reload - image rebuild) that my Ice TV guide and all my channels have disappeared the following day. This will usually keep happening until I do the usual rescan and reboot but then it will stabilise after about a day or two. I have a relatively stable environment at the moment so I have no need to touch the machine. I'll keep you informed if the guide remains active. I did change from wireless LAN to wired LAN also and noticed a massive channel dump the following day which was remedied by a simple reboot.

Has anyone else noticed any strange guide/channel happenings after a system reload?? or am I just one of the lucky ones......

Re: Ice TV problems..UPDATE..

Do you connect a Xbox 360 to your MCE by any chance? I've noticed that the Xbox install routine always wipes the IceTV configuration.

Re: Ice TV problems..UPDATE..

Personally I rarely get problems with IceTV and when I do a guide update and reboot generally fixes it without the need to reinstall or rescan. This is a known issue with IceTV and lots of us have a scheduled reboot or cycle of MCE immediately following the guide update which generally avoids the problem altogether. As far as system updates go I can only say that I avoid them as much as possible once the machine is stable. I try to keep my tinkering to another PC elsewhere because the stress of being without my MCE is too great!
