Exclamation ICETV - I paid for this?

Hi All,

After so many past issues with so many differet free TvGuides I decided to take the plunge to subscibe to ICETV.

I have to say that Ive been very happy with the service so far. But only over the last few weeks, I have had several issues with it such as;
  • Channels that randomly disappear
  • Guide info missing
  • Incorrect listings - (Like Seinfied tonight listing as Everybody Loves Raymond)!
  • Programmed recordings that show that are recording - but dont!
Im just interested - Has anyone has the same grief as me over the last few weeks?

I pride myself on the fact that I never change anything with my MCE so as to try and keep it stable. Im a little unhappy at whats happened, but Im not sure ICETV is to blame. Any thoughts?

Re: ICETV - I paid for this?

I'm not sure about the incorrect listings, but the other things sound like the guide database crashing. Check your application event log for errors accessing the guide database and similar problems. If you have these then that will be the problem. Have a look at this thread http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/comm...rk-around.html fro extra details. There's a link there to an M$ developer that explains the issue.

Re: ICETV - I paid for this?

I've had ICETV for about 6months now and i am very happy with it. The past few weeks have also been fine with the exception of the Everybody loves Raymond thing.I agree with GlenR check your logs and also download the 1.4 version of ICETV it might help also if you don't already have it.

Re: ICETV - I paid for this?

Hi,
Yep, these look like MCE errors not Ice. I have used ice for nearly 12 months with no hassles. There's the feel good factor of sticking it to the man too (although I hear Eddy may not be the man for too much longer!)
regards

Thanks GlenR,

I will take a look at this. Do you think that this is something that we should be reporting to ICETV? Seems that if they provide a pay service, they should provide fixes like this in the install package ...

Re: ICETV - I paid for this?

I Have Used ICE for 6 months Now and Have installed it On Vista and XP MCE and have had No Problem's you are stating. The Problems seem to be a MCE Setup issue Try Using the Restore MCE Tool and Reset it and Set up MCE over again it might help. The Thing with Everybody Loves Raymond Is a rare occurrence and if it bothers you drop a line into ICETV and ask them if they can fix it they won’t mind they are very helpful and they may not realise that its wrong.

Re: ICETV - I paid for this?

I have spoken to IceTV about this. It is actually a bug (recognised) in MCE so it is not strictly their problem. The PIMP client (free to IceTV subscribers) does have a work-around included, but I didn't particulary want/need/like the PIMP client so I went down a script path (which does effectively the same thing as the PIMP client work-around).

Re: ICETV - I paid for this?

What is the Pimp client workaround and what is the script you're using? I cannot get channel 10.

Re: ICETV - I paid for this?

Hi Guys,

I have installed 1.4of ICETV and also done a completey new MCE setup with the wizard. I probably should have mentioned that before. (Sorry)

I am planning on upgrading my hard drive so I think I'll do a re-install. Hoping that will fix my issues. If its a findamental problem with the database I will look at using the fixes from the previous posts. Will keep you posted. Thanks folks!

Re: ICETV - I paid for this?

Hi,
Before you do a reinstall, may be worth trying the MCE reset tool at http://www.salloway.org.uk/mceblog/c...il%2findex.htm

Ice guide is usually fine, missed the Seinfeld episode as well last night because of this oversight.

Re: ICETV - I paid for this?

tried ICe and it did not deliver, a quick email to the creator to find out they do not cover regional queensland lame.

maybe if they win their case, the moneies they recover will be enough to help them expand to cover the entire country.

Anyone know what's chamged in V1.4? Also, if you have an earlier version can you install over the top or is it uninstall/reinstall, and do you have to do the whole channel scan/assign routine again?
