Ice TV - Pimp your TV

For those who subscribe to IceTV, the new Pimp Your TV service is great!

http://www.icetv.com.au/cgi-bin/webpimp.cgi?op=about

Short version: You can browse their web based TV guide and schedule recordings on your MCE at home!

Initial tests look great. Will soon support series recordings as well.

I've been using ICE for ages as I need a reliable guide and got sick of keeping a scraping solution going. This adds value and gives you something over and above the basic MCE guide - it might help some more people justify the ICE subscription

I think Foxtel is going to implement a similar service in the near future - sounds pretty sweet

Re: Ice TV - Pimp your TV

The beta of PIMP has been around for quite a while through several versions but it causes my machine to crash randomly! I wonder if the release version is any better.

Re: Ice TV - Pimp your TV

Not a huge fan of PIMP. I prefer WebGuide4. The thing with PIMP is there is a delay (minimum 5 minutes) between asking to start and actually starting a record. With WebGuide it's instant - a big plus for the WAF when you're out and she says "oh, I forgot to record XXXXXXX".

PIMP is a good "Joe Average" solution though as it doesn't require port forwarding and a web server set up at your home.

I am "Joe Average" then - it is good for me.

Re: Ice TV - Pimp your TV

Webguide looks good and I probably will have a play with it. But as you say for the average Joe, you can't get much easier than Pimp
