I certainly wish ICE TV luck. The outcome of this case will have ramifications for pretty much all of us that use an EPG (whether that be ICE TV or any of the free alternatives).
I know I will be eagerly following the outcome of the case.
I wish ICE TV all the best and hope the stupidity of channel 9 is struck down.
Clearly nine need a new group of boffins to sort out strategy. If the best they can come up with to defend the inevitable shift driven by technology is to beat on ICE TV then they all deserve a flogging themselves.
The legal arguments will be interesting (well as interesting as legal arguments get), lets see how nine argue that they want to publish infromation to get people to watch, but only some people can use this info!

It's sad, but ICE TV as a commercial entity may be in danger regardless of the outcome of the case. If they lose, it may be difficult to find a business model which would allow them to continue providing EPG services while complying with the rulings of the court.
If they win, what is to stop the broadcasters from supplying a free EPG service. The tradition of one-upmanship which exists in their own personal version of school yard politics all but guarantees that Channel 9 (and the others) will make ICE TV pay for their 'insolence'.
Personally, I'm behind ICE TV (subscription is being renewed) and I hope that the courts will recognise the bullying and anti-competative practices employed by the plaintifs for what they are.
I'd like to which everyone in the ICE TV camp the very best of luck.
Good luck to IceTV. As has been said, I hope they can afford to go up against the Packer Deep Pockets. Or maybe a clever QC will do a bit of pro bono for the cause?
You know what I find funny is there is an ad campaign on telly at the moment about keep our sport on free to air TV, why should only those that can afford pay TV get to watch the best sport.
How hypocritical can the TV networks be, on one hand they will not release the EPG to the public and on the other they are having a whinge about having to pay to watch TV.
I think this sums it up pretty well from that article:
"This is old media's last-ditch attempt to halt progress. It makes sense in purely commercial terms but it is short-sighted. And we, the viewers, are the real losers."

Lovely how it is the same firm now representing Nine that provided the original advice to ICETV on how to provide its services without breaching copyright. This is going to be a very difficult case for Nine to win. However as we know about things, its not about who will most likely win, but who has the money for continued legal representations on appeal after appeal. F*$&K you too Eddie...
I wonder how long it will be before we see an outcome...
Who knows.... It depends on wether the parties settle, judgement is given immediately or whether judgement is reserved.
I suspect judgement will be reserved which means at the conclusion of submissions, the parties will be notified (generally one to two weeks later) to come back to Court to hear the judgement.
Perhaps the first indication we will get of the judgement will be our ICE TV EPG's going offline.
Once again... Good luck to Peter Vogel. I hope you stick it right up Nine.
