Supafly - glad you posted this - as it does mean savings to some potential users - and that is what a community like this is supposed to be about... Helping others.

It is a choice thing - some people like IceTV because its stability, simple setup, and thoroughness. Others baulk at paying for a TV Guide or IceTV does not cover their region or offer Pay TV. Each and everone gets to choose their service offering, and for those that consider this provider as an option - go for it....

Hope this helps some - but I am sure I had already posted the latest offer about icetv the other day - but that thread seems to have been deleted.... oh well.

Now who said a little Free*EPG competition wasn't good for consumers!

This is great news from IceTV who are now offering a whopping 60-days free trial service! This should just about keep everyone out of trouble until summer rolls around when you can turn the TV off and head for the beach!

Definitely a great offer for the Australian EPG market ... especially if you're a new subscriber to IceTV's IceGuide service! Guess we'll see you guys in 60 days!

50% off a subscription !!!! Damn, I Spent $145 on a 1 year subscription with the Optima Viiv Unit I brought recently......... Not happy Jan

Having said this, I would like to say that for what you get the service is reasonably priced even @ $145/yr. Its easy to set up, works like a dream and the one touch recording thingy (the girly's word not mine) is a breeze to use for even a technological luddite like her. Very High WAF.

Oh yeah and they can set it up so you can program to record from your mobile/pda/computer using PIMP This works a treat too

Ive been a member of ICETV from day 1 and I renewed with the special and ive now got credit with them till somewhere in 2008.

I cant say enough about the service.. Life without a guide would make the media center experience almost worthless.

I cant imagine the work that goes into making such a service - there must be a stack of work in it, and I dont mind paying for it..

For the good of the community I say join up - make them flush with cash, so they can keep providing for us..

Who knows, maybe oneday we the Aussie version of Vista will get cable card support (and satcard) so we can watch native Foxtel Digial in Media Center and icetv can provide us with the electronic guide for media center!

Well, I found this, 2 days AFTER signing up for 90 days. Oh well.

Up to now, I've been using EpgRunner, which is free but not always up.

Now I've got a service that is (hopefully) always up, but woefully incomplete.

The number of TV shows, movies etc. that show up in the EPG as "unknown" is just ridiculous (this is for Adelaide). I doubt I'll be renewing my subscription.
