Question Juddering on Recorded TV Playback - Vista MCE

HI,
I've got Vista Home Premium MCE (32 bit, SP1), using a GRUNDIG MFW Digital SD CRT TV.

I notice that when I playback recorded TV, it is VERY inconsistent: sometimes works fine, but sometimes the video is so juddery that you really can't watch it. Last night I noticed that the audio started to judder as well.

Is this possibly caused by a loose connection at the aerial? Our house is dble storey, and I don't fancy getting up on the roof to check out the aerial if it's not the cause of the problem.

Has anyone else struck this problem?

PS: wasn't sure where to post this one. Please advise if it should be moved......

cheers,
Alison

Re: Juddering on Recorded TV Playback - Vista MCE

first thing. Bypass your Media centre. When watching tv, do you get the juddering .. removing splitters etc.

if not, then that rules out your antenna / cabling .

install splitter (if using one) doe sit occur ?

if it does its the splitter / or not enough signal problem , and you may need amplifier.

if all the above pass, then look at your drivers / tuner card... can you watch tv without issues ?

that is a good start to provide information with us.

Re: Juddering on Recorded TV Playback - Vista MCE

I installed an antenna splitter - but would that cause a visible signal loss using digital?

Also, it is an intermittent fault.

Before set-up of the MCE, have seen a no-DVB signal/Blue screen from time-to-time (esp. in high winds)..... Is this in effect the same thing?

cheers,
Alison

You might be close to the edge of the digital cliff. Unlike analogue where the signal just gets snowier, with digital you have good signal until you go just under your reception limit and then you get judder, chirps and freezing, then loss of signal completely.
