Re: How do i connect my Sony 7.2 surround sound system?

Since your Amp has a HDMI Repeater, you can use the HDMI cable from the PC to the Amp, with a HDMI cable from the Amp to the receiver.

It'll then take the audio out of the cable, and send the video on to the TV.

Set the HDMI audio device as your default device and away you go. You can configure it through the driver config part.

Re: How do i connect my Sony 7.2 surround sound system?

That image isn't hugely helpful, but that particular screen is telling the system whether or not you have bookshelf type speakers at the front (supported by a sub) or fullrange speakers.

Looking at the speakers (hope the look better in the flesh than the website), you should check full range.

If your using a digital output, you shouldn't need to select the number of speakers you use anyway. Just send everything to the receiver 'As Is' and let it decide how to use it. AFAIK 7.2 audio isn't supported in any digital audio device at the moment anyway.

Re: How do i connect my Sony 7.2 surround sound system?

I'd say that the chipset allows 7.1 from the analogue ports, but won't do it over digital.

You could try downloading the latest realtek drivers and see what options are there. But the only links I could see regarding the Azalia chipset indicate that the analogue ports are used for 7.1.

Complicated question, what is the source material on the computer, what is the software player? What is the full path of the HDMI, ie. Computer-AMP-TV or Computer-TV-AMP?

Hi Extreme
Source material on the computer is, noraml tv, DVD'S played through MCE. I have a PS3 for bluray.

Software player is just vista mce should i use something else?

Path of hdmi is pc-amp-tv , ps3-amp-tv is this the best way to have it connected?

It does say in the motherboard book:
*Please note the hdmi audio output only supports Ac3, DTS and 2 channel lpcm formats.(AC3 and DTS require and external decoder for decoding).

Does thi mean my hopes of 5.1 over hdmi will not work? (sorry im new to this and dont understand any of it)

Appreciate your time

[From gigabyte tech support in regard to no being able to get HDMI 5.1 audio to work from 780G]
Unfortunately the hdmi audio chipset on the board is hdmi 1.2 which does not support 5.1
You will need to use spdif in order to support 5.1

Well, ya, he's right. There's a LOT longer explaination, but you won't get any type of 5.1 digital audio over HDMI - it's limited to 2-channel PCM on this MB. You CAN use S/PDIF (I do) for 5.1 digital audio (NOT HD audio though). Only way to get full HD audio from blue discs using this MB is multi-channel analog out to your receiver.
