Unhappy HDMI to the sony

I have a problem with the display. The hdmi connection works fine if I boot up when the Sony KDL-46X is on but as I change the channel or turn off the TV I can not get the media machine back on the screen. I have never been able to get the sound through the hdmi cable which is not that important to me but I thought it could give a clue to the problem. I have noticed that if I use the VGA connection it works fine. I think it would be driver issues but I don’t know if it is the video drivers or the motherboard driver issues. And how can I tell Please help.

Re: HDMI to the sony

This is a well known problem, although I thought that it only happens with ATI.

I use a utility called hdmion to boot the monitor back to life. If you do a search you'll find quite a bit of info.

Re: HDMI to the sony

I had that problem at first with onboard Intel graphics and a Sony v-series LCD. After a couple of BIOS and graphics driver updates it went away - I'm not sure what did the trick. I now have an ATI graphics card which also has no resume problems - so maybe it was the BIOS. Worth updating everything (BIOS and graphics card) to start with, if you haven't already.

Re: HDMI to the sony

I have XBR 46" and no problems with NVidia.
Try that utility, krypto is talking about. New Catalyst is out BTW.
