Yamaha RX-V663/RX-V863

Anybody trying to use either the Yamaha RX-V663 or RX-V863 receiver with audio via it's HDMI 1.3a interfaces ? If yes, can you please post your experience and what type of hardware your using, eg mainboard, video card and driver etc.

I'm considering buying one, but apparently they don't work with ATI cards, including the ATI 4850, looks like an EDID issue.

I bought the RX-V863 last week and can't comment on ATI cards. I am using a Gigabyte 7600GT at the moment DVI -> HDMI and optical to the RX-V863 without any problems and then HDMI to my Panasonic 50" Plasma.

I am also connecting my DVD and PS2 via component and my Xbox360 via HDMI.

As only the Xbox360 is connect via HDMI for both video and optical that works without any issues.

Cheers

Re: Yamaha RX-V663/RX-V863

I bought a RXV-663 last week and plugged it in over the weekend.

The HDMI is a problem for me.. HTPC board is a GA-MA78GM-S2H w/ onboard ATI video.
Catalyst (8.6) sees it as a DVI device, not HDMI so no sound..

Now whenever I try to watch Live TV, my system hangs and I need to reset. (this might have been me trying to get HDMI working or a driver issue). I downloaded a Catalyst 8.7 beta but am yet to load it.

All I've got plugged to the amp is:
Foxtel (Component + Optical)
PS3 (HDMI)
HTPC (HDMI)
HDMI out to my Pioneer PDP-506.

Other things seem to work. I'm waiting for my new sub + centre speaker before I give a blu-ray movie a shot.

edit: tried Cat 8.7 beta but still not showing as HDMI device.
