Pioneer 508XDA - Can't get HDMI connected

HI Guys,

I just brought a nice media center to go with this excellent television. I went for the ASUS EAH3850 basically because it supports DVI to HDMI plus 5.1 audio pass through.

I also tried the Gigabite 3870 with a similar set up. I can connect via the VGA capble into the PC slot but can only achieve 1360*768 resolution which is ok but doenst use all the pixels and I know this screen is capable of viewing 1080i. The problem starts when I hook it up using the HDMI output and input!

Basically when use HDMI and then I change the display settings to the higher resolution and force it through the PC interface looks great (once I change the overscan) on the desktop but when I activate the Media Center (im using Vista 64bit) the screen doesnt accept the image (not sure if they are incompatible) perhaps the scaling doesnt work with high resolutions....? the media center works fine on VGA cable at 1360* but not the HDMI connection....

I really want to view bluray and HD video games as well as record HDTV so want an allpurpose media centre....

At the store where I brought it from they set it up and it all worked fine on the samsung! --- anyone know why the Pioneer might be rejecting the signal?
