Wireless enabled rear speakers

All

I have recently moved into a new place (renting this time as I sold my last place) and like many others I am struggling to have the rear speakers in my lounge room setup without those nasty looking cables running all over the room

I have been doing some investigation on Wireless rear speakers but have found that these all seem to be bundled in with the lower end DVD component systems, I dont want to limit my inputs to just 1 digital input (which is what most of these systems have) and I want to purchase a new 7.1 amp soon (I know I wont beable to wireless enable those! but who knows how long I will live here)

So, I want to wireless enable some standard rear speakers and have found this (http://www.practical-home-theater-gu...er-system.html) does anybody have any experience with this or something similar? I have no problems running cables behind a lounge, just not from the front of a loungeroom to the rear.

The receiver would be sitting next to a Wireless G ADSL2 router, so interference may be a factor that I need to consider.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Re: Wireless enabled rear speakers

I have not used this solution, but have used wireless transmission for AV signals in the past, I stress past. Unless there are absolutely no other alternatives I would not go down this path. Despite the claims on the link you provide I fail to see how they can suggest that on a publicly available frequency that you should not get interference, pure BS IMHO. "Problems with establishing communication would possibly arise only if there is serious interference from other devices operating in the same 2.4Ghz frequency range." ie neighbours, microwaves, cordless phones, wireless LANs, etc, etc, etc

I would look at trying to get cables either through the ceiling or flat ones under the edge of the carpet (presuming you have some) using something like this, or better.

Wireless has its place, but IMHO its not for audio or video if you can at all help it. Personally I have spent up to a day to get cables from one part of a difficult house to another and always been glad I've done it.
