6 Dead Pixels on my new Sammy

Hi everyone,
On Monday I purchased a new LCD for my VMC from the Good Guys. It's a 40" Samsung M81, and I am quite pleased with it, though I am having some issues.

Firstly, I have found 6 bad pixels on it. There's one particularly bright one, which is quite noticeable when the TV is on, but not currently displaying an image. When watching a video however, it is only noticeable from reasonably close up, the other 5 are a mixture of dead pixels, and pixels stuck on a particular colour (eg, red and blue). Can I take it back to get it replaced, and if so, is it worth it, or should I just live with it?

Secondly, when watching through media center, I am experiencing something of a blurring effect (is it called ghosting?) when watching TV, ESPECIALLY noticeable when peoples faces are moving. I haven't noticed it on the HD channels, only the SD ones (though can't say for absolute sure it's only SD), so I though it was an issue with upscaling or something, but, it only appears on stuff from TV, NOT on avi's from channel BT which look great. Another thing to point out, is that there is no problem with SD channels using the tv's built in tuner, ONLY from media center.

I'm thinking it's something wrong with my display driver settings. I'm using Catalyst 8.3 to drive my Radeon 2600 Pro, and putting out 1920x1080 @ 50Hz through HDMI, and using the Just Scan Option on the TV. Everything else seems to work fine, and it may just be one setting I need to change.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Re: 6 Dead Pixels on my new Sammy

Yep, read it and thanks, it seems that 6 of them are MORE than enough (though judging by their policy, it seems that this is an uncommon occurance), but is it worth hauling it to the shop for dead pixels? Will more of them develop? Would you get it replaced?

Re: 6 Dead Pixels on my new Sammy

Thanks guys, I had read that after Simbot's post, and I think I'll take it back. If it were 1 or 2, I may have just lived with it, but 6 is too many, especially if I find more of them. It gives me the feeling that I have purchased an imperfect product. Their zero-dead pixel policy suggests to me that if I take it back, the replacement should be fault free. Don't they check these things out before shipping them?

Any ideas about the other problem? Or should I post that in the video card section?

Re: 6 Dead Pixels on my new Sammy

I'd suggest you start another thread on that one as the title of the thread wont lead people here to help with vid card problem.

Good luck with it all

Re: 6 Dead Pixels on my new Sammy

Ok, just as an update, I swapped it in store, and the replacement had one pixel stuck on green. Thankfully I checked it out on site, and noticed it, and it seems third one is lucky for me . The blurring issue was sorted out in the video card forum with a registry hack. Thanks again for all your help guys.
