Outdoor Plasma Enclosure

Hey all.
Anyone know of anyone in Australia doing outdoor weatherproof enclosures for plasma/LCD displays?
Looking for one that will enclose probably a 42" plasma screen outside on a wall.
Somewhat protected from heavy weather by the eves on the house but would definitely need to be water proof.

Anyone found a product that will do it, or made one themselves?

Re: Outdoor Plasma Enclosure

hey there

I posted a similar thread for my LCD a few weeks ago as I was going to put a 26" LCD outside in my outdoor area.

Basically theres not a lot around unless you pay big bucks and get an outdoor screen - the sunbrite ones are the ones that spring to mind.

I mounted mine outside on a swivel bracket - the outdoor area is pretty well enclosed so no real problem with water etc. I also got myself some marine grade vinyl and made my own cover for it when its not in use ( vinyl from Clarks rubber)

So far so good..keep a watch out too for nesting insects etc

Not for me, it's for a mate's place that's nearly finished. At the moment the plan is to hang it on a wall mount outside when it's required, then remove and store inside when it's not being used. Just wondering if there's a way to leave it in situ.
I've seen them advertised in hospitality industy mags but they look mega expensive. Just wondering if there was a more consumer-based solution.
Thanks for the links!

Well that's actually not far from it. It will be mounted on the wall above the hot tub, and the 'put it up on the wall when he wants to use it' routine he's already figured will be too much effort for a quick 1/2 hour dip before/after work. If it was mounted there permantly, it would see a lot more use.
And yeah, I wish I was that rich too.

This is all well and good, but the air-con doesn't work outside....
