Samsung 40" LCD TV advice

Hello,

Can anyone here give me their opinion on the Samgsung 40" F8 LCD TV (100Hz 1080p etc)? They are currently giving away a 19" LCD TV with them and they are a few hundred dollars less than the Sony Bravia X series of the same size. I've heard that these two TV's share the same panels or are manufactured in the same factory.

If anyone does have one, have they had any issues hooking their MCE device up to it via DVI-HDMI or with pixel mapping etc?

Thanks in advance.

Well I have it's slightly bigger brother the 46" and I am very happy with it. I connect using DVI-HDMI cable and 1:1 pixel mapping is a snap using the "Just Scan" option.

P.S. Just waiting on my free 26" (bigger for the 46") to arrive.

Re: Samsung 40" LCD TV advice

I've seen them going on ebay for $1500 as a factory second item and I would definitely buy one as they're great value for money, go to your local electrical store and get a demo then you know if you'll like it or not.
Always Best to check them out in person, then have a look on feebay and see what bargain you can score if your money is your concern like me at the moment!

I think I may get the 46" though, they're going for a nice $2200-2300 on average. These all being full hd of course.

Edit: sorry the factory second ones won't include a free lcd though.

Re: Samsung 40" LCD TV advice

Thanks guys, Have seen a few in the skin and they do look great, quite the same picture as the bravia x. It probably won't be a cash purchase, so ebay or purchasing over the web probably won't be an option.

Can i ask a couple of quick questions?
1. roughly how much will you be paying for this; and
2. where from?
I'm heller interested in checking out this 2 for 1 deal you mentioned....

Re: Samsung 40" LCD TV advice

I was also looking at the "F" series 46" but the f series has a glass looking panel on the frount and the "N" series doesn't so in a room that tends to have glare does the "F" series reflect much of this glare or is it still looking good.
I would like to here from the guys that have them in a room that is well lit.
I know the "N" series doesn't have the 100hz but not sure through VMC if that would be a big thing?
Thanks Aaron

Unfortunately my living room is not always all that well lit but I do tend to get a fair amount of sun in the late afternoon on a sunny day and I find that my F8 series is fine. There's not much reflection from it at all.

I have decided to get the 46" F8, but will have to make Phil personally responsible if I don't like it
This time I will get an extended warranty - I have learned this lesson.

Re: Samsung 40" LCD TV advice

Well I got the 40" F8 and haven't looked back. Still haven't received or heard from Samsung about the freebie I put in for. The F8 is a great telly and I'm really impressesed, however the screen does have quite a reflective nature somewhere inbetween most matt LCD's and glossy Plasma's but our room is quite dark so reflections are not a problem.
