NAS Reconnect after s3 resume

Hi there.

Just built a HTPC for a mate with Vista Premium. He has his media files on a Lacie Ethernet disk (i.e. a NAS) and is connected via draft-n wifi. The media files are mapped on the HTPC and can be read and played without problem.

But. When I resume the HTPC from S3 standby, the mapped network drives do not reconnect. They are still shown under "computer", but have a red cross through them. Outside of MC, if I click to open them, they reconnect and can be used. Inside MC, they either don't reconnect, or it takes a very long time. They are set as reconnect at logon, and have a different user name and password specified.

I've picked up a tip from various forums that I will try once I can get to the machine again; Use ip addresses to map the network drives. I'll have to reset the NAS to use a fixed address.

I've also been trying to find a way of using a scheduled task or background job to reconnect after s3 resume, but I can't find anything that looks like it will do the job.

Anybody got any ideas?

Paul

Re: NAS Reconnect after s3 resume

can you give anymore details reguarding the network configuration?

ie, is it an ADHOC network? is there a Access point, a router, a modem? is the PC eithernet to the router then wireless to the NAS or vica versa? are there any other computers on the network?
