Lightbulb Telephony question....

The previous owners of my house had two Telstra lines in use. When we moved in we only connected the one. So here is the question.

In my office room there are two telephone jacks side by side. One is live and there are live Jacks in the master bedroom and the kitchen. The other is not connected and there is a corresponding jack next to a TV antenna outlet in another room.

Can I connect the live Jack to the unconnected one and therfore have that line extend to the room with the TV. A second media centre could go there thinks he..... But is there a problem with the polarity of the lines if I just use a standard telphone Jack to connect from Jack to Jack? I presume there is. Can I reverse the polarity easily with another adaptor?

Or am I just crazy for thinking about this.

Thanks for your Help.

KH
