Homeplug - network over the mains supply

Hello,

I have a product from Devolo called Home plug AV 200. This connects all my kit up, via the mains power sockets, at around 180Mbs. Fantastic. Only thing to watch is that 200 is not compatible with 14 or 85Mbs speeds It can coexist with the slower untis, but it can't talk

So, either buy the slower speeds or buy high speed.

Good luck.

Re: Homeplug - network over the mains supply

Thanks for the tip. Where did you buy this networking hardware and how much?

Is it reliable all the time?

Re: Homeplug - network over the mains supply

I'm using a pair of Netcomm NP200AV to link my servers to my home theatre system. So far the only issue I've had is using the supplied software when applying QoS for video streaming the software overwrote the MAC address of one of the units and rendered the pair useless. I had them replaced and have learnt not to touch them and just let them work.

Wireless is good, however my setup benefits greatly from the Homeplug solution. Plus I can easily extend it by plugging in more NetComm devices.

Purchased mine through Harvey Norman, purely because I could get them there and then.
