Here's A Weird Resolution: Matroska Files In MCE Network

Hi,

I've been having issues getting MCE2005 to playback my *.mkv (Matroksa) files on my networked bedroom box, even though it is setup similar to my main unit which does allow playback of them inside the MCE shell.

After looking at another site, I decided to try MediaPortal. After install, it appeared to be more of a learning curve than I was prepared to invest at this time: what with setting up my bedroom box, reinstalling my OS on my desktop, & life.

I uninstalled the MediaPortal programme, & guess what, my bed-box now shows all my networked Matroska files. I remember clicking the 'do not show in future' box when attempting to load an *.mkv file in WMP11 when it asked it could not open it but might still play it. I was sure I had rebooted a couple of times before installing MediaPortal, but I might be mistaken. {humming along to the theme of The Twilight Zone}
