Ok i have a Billion 7300g Router. WPA security and wireless MAC filter. Every day or so i get this in the DHCP Table Leased Table
IP Address 192.168.1.103
MAC Address 00:12:f0:53:73:49
Client Host Name your-bfd7d7aab9
Register Time 2007/06/14 20:30:16 - 2007/06/15 08:30:16
i have added that MAC address to the Mac filter setting to Drop but every day after i add it to that list it seems to disappear again. Trying to Figure out if this unkown source is using my bandwitdh and quota, and what other info they could be transmitting.
What about a Bluetooth device? The name "your-BFD...." suggests a device rather than a PC or something like that. PDA maybe? Does seem odd that they'd be able to connect through that level of security though.
Maybe try restricting the DHCP scope to the exact number of addresses you need? Give the printer a fixed IP & have the scope just issue .100-.102 ?

I looked up the MAC address & it came up with "0012F0 Intel Corporate" - do you have a laptop with inbuilt Intel wireless? I'm wondering if it is some sort of quality of connection tool?
BFD may stand for "bidirectional forward detection" ?

I have a Dell laptop but no inbuilt wireless card. Yeah no other wireless devices in my unit possible another unit, but signal strength is very limited in my apartment as it is. any idea where to set up the scope for only 3 mc ip addresses? or is it possible to only give ip address to mac address approved m/c's???
In the Billion's web configuration page there should be settings for DHCP Server. It will have a Range Start & Range End figure. Leave the Range Start as is (192.168.0.100?) & change the Range End to 192.168.0.102.
It's possible to issue IPs to specific MACs, but that's no security help as a fixed IP will still work.
All the above will do is stop the device from auto connecting.
I'd be playing around with my wireless security settings. So you've got WDS with only your wireless MAC addresses typed in? Here's the manual if you don't have it BTW: http://60.248.77.180/_Internet/userm...M_12162005.pdf
It's a mystery all right.
