Networking with Media Center

Hi, I am trying to set up a network with 3 computers. 2 running XP Pro and one running Media Center. The other two can see each other but the one running media can't. I go through the process of setting up a network right to the end but it wont see the workgroup. The other computers can see the one running media. Can anyone help?

Re: Networking with Media Center

First, are you running Vista or MCE 2005?

Secondly, are you sure it's a workgroup or might you have set up a domain?

If they're both setup as part of a workgroup, the most obvious question - is the MCE rig part of the same workgroup as the other two? - if different it can slow detecting other PCs down a bit.

Re: Networking with Media Center

They all have unique computer names?

The fact that at least one way traffice is possible leads me to think it's a firewall issue on the MCE machine.

Re: Networking with Media Center

I'm with Rumbarr. Sounds like a firewall issue to me. Somewhere in the firewall settings there will be a "Allow local area network (LAN) traffic" or something like that. Give it a tick and you should be right.
