Dont think its possible to get a process to run in the background as you can in Unix/Linux (use an &). You could try re-starting the eshell process (even though its running) to bring it back into focus after the script, but its a bit messy. You can just press the green button on the remote (if you have one) to do the same thing.
Why would you want to run a script though? If you physically map (tools-map drive) a share to a drive (unless you are using all A to Z) add it to MCE (Videos, MP3`s etc) and Windows will automatically try to reconnect to the share. If its not there, it simply wont show up.
Otherwise, just add the share as a path (again, Videos, music whatever) as \\servername\sharename. That way, you dont waste a mapped drive letter, and it will only connect to the share when its needed.
The only time I use scripts in a non-domain environment, is to map network printers etc.
