PSPVNC does rock dude....especially with centrafuse...

Hey all the fruits of endless searching have paid off and here is the end result....

PSPVNC (or PNVC) is awesome.

1:1 Mapping and all!!

This ripper little program is called centrafuse and is designed for carputers etc. It just happens that it controls the media components of a pc really well and the screen can be made to go to any resolution you set up!

A beta can be found here

More shots showing the application in action!

I am a happy matt again....

Life is getting lazier and lazier (bellies gettin' bigger and bigger )

Matt

Talking Re: PSPVNC does rock dude....especially with centrafuse...

Yeah I've tried PSPVNC and I do like it, but being the critical/finicky pain that I am this is why I don't use it with my Media Centre:

1. Low Refresh Rate:
- It cannot stream TV successfully to it.

2. Having to use the analogue stick to control the mouse as opposed to using arrows to select a menu item.
- I know that this is the way all VNC apps work, but it just makes it difficult at times.

There's my 2 cents, but Matt, in your defence it is an amazing application and for doing stuff with the OS it's pretty cool. I guess it comes down to what you want it for, etc.

Just as an FYI though, If you just want to play music, etc, you might the application useful: PlayerPAL. This app puts your Windows Media Library on a web server and you can control your music via that. The only difference between that and PSPVNC is that you can use the arrows rather than the analogue stick to select albums, etc which is heaps easier.

I've been slack but at some stage I'm going to have a look at the MCE SDK to have something better and more integrated with MCE but until then you may like this.

Cheers - Scott

Re: PSPVNC does rock dude....especially with centrafuse...

Hey Scott, I hear ya regarding the analogue controller issue - until I discovered that the D-pad also moves the mouse pointer! Mind you, I am running PSPVNC (PortableVNC) 1.2.3.

I had really average refresh rates early on (although I don't use it to stream TV - I just want the wireless control aspect), so I replaced TightVNC with RealVNC Free, tweaked the config a little (I think RealVNC gives better options too) and it seems quite good now.

I also replaced the standard 2dBi antenna on the back of the wireless router with a 5dBi one - this made a real difference in pauses due to poor signal strength (obviously).

I love PSPVNC!

Hey rcork,

I meant RE the controlling not that you couldn't use the DPAD, but the fact that it moves the mouse rather than selecting items on the screen.... I guess you can compare it to navigating the MCE menu with the Mouse as opposed to using the arrows on the MCE remote.

PSPVNC is definitely an awesome application and I was absolutely stoked when I got it to work.... I guess I just can't wait for the day when I can use the PSP just like the Sideshow Remote that's been posted on these forums.
