DLink wireless dropouts all of a sudden

Hi everyone,

I've been using a Dlink DI-524 wireless router with my two pcs at home. Both PCs (MCE and desktop) have Dlink DWL-G510 wireless cards in them.

This setup has been suiting me fine for the last 6-7 months. If I need to move large volumes of data, I run a network cable through the dining room and kitchen and then get rid of it once thats done.

Recently, somewhere in the chain (Netcomm NB1300 ADSL modem connected to router in bridged mode), something has gone astray. I find that if I have been inactive on the internet, or the network, my connection seems to drop out. Nothing actually drops out though (wireless connection info says good signal and always have a connection).

Does this sound like something anyone else has come across before?

Re: DLink wireless dropouts all of a sudden

I'm in the mood for answering my own questions today.

It turns out that the network itself has been functioning all the time, it was only the internet connectivity that was dropping out.

That then leads to the Netcomm NB1300 ADSL modem that was having a fit due to too many open connections in my torrent clients (only used for legitimate shareware programs lol). Left the modem unplugged overnight so that it reset itself and reduced my number of open connections and I haven't noticed the problem again.

Thats two of my own questions answered for today. Now, about that decoder....
