Video playback Freezing, Wireless not connecting under vista

Hey everyone,
Vista looks sexy so im going to put up with it all day.

Anyway my wireless connection does no longer work, so im stuck with wired. THe wireless adaptor detects the network however when it tries to connect it doesnt work at all. it gives me the option to daignose the problem or select another network. I dont get up to the password promt.

While using the wired network cable (100mbit) when i play videos over the network it will pause in the video for a while then continue playing. This happened in MCE05 (2nd install) and Vista home premium first install.

Any help would be great

Julius

Re: Video playback Freezing, Wireless not connecting under vista

Hi Gruelius,

I was having a similar problem with my Linksys WMP54G wireless LAN card under WEP encryption.

Not sure about not getting to put in (or attempt to put in) a password, because I only ever got to the diagnose/repair option after I had attempted to put in my WEP key and it subsequently failing.

I finally managed to get my *new* Vista driver working and it detected my home network fine but the problem was with establishing a connection. I discovered that you MUST enter your key in hexadecimal as Vista for some unbeknown reason does not have the functionality that XP did in that it can convert your ascii to a hex value on the fly.

If your key looks something like XX:XX:XX:XX:XX

Just remove the ":" to make a single long string and you should be sweet, provided you can get to the point actually enter your key???

Good luck.
