stuttering DVD streaming fixes when i touch USB case

I sometimes view, using the HTPC in the lounge, DVD images mounted in a virtual drive on my Bedroom PC. Sometimes the playback is faultless. Other times it stutters like crazy.

I have a D-link router in the bedroom and a D-link wireless USB key on the HTPC.

When it is stuttering I can get smooth playback if I touch the case of the USB key the playback becomes smooth, remove finger and it starts stuttering again. I did it enough times to prove that it was indeed fixed by touching the USB key.
The touch was light enough not to cause movement of the connection so it's not a connector issue.

Ideas ?

Thanks

I suspect your body is providing some additional signal gain. If there is some distance between the router and the HTPC I'd recommend an internal wireless NIC teamed with a high gain antenna. That'll fix it.

PS high gain antennae may transgress certain RF transmission regulations.
