D-Link Router issues, Anyone?

Hi all,
My understanding of networking could be best described as basic, and after the weekend of trying to setup an 360 as an extender I think a little too basic...

Going through the forums however I've noticed that 4 threads related to 'extender not found' or problems with a wired connection (yep wired) all were using D-link Routers...

I've got a 604 and am ready to put it in the microwave.

Has anyone had issues, or happy stories with these????

Re: D-Link Router issues, Anyone?

Hi,
I used a DI-804 (wired router) and now a DI-624 (wireless/wired). A D-Link PC-card caused one of my laptops to crash frequently so was replaced by a Belkin which works fine. I still have issues with wireless PC's not being able to find the router from time to time. Mostly it is OK. The last firmware upgrade promised to fix a few issues but gave me grief so I rolled back. On the whole I am not impressed but have no exprience with the competition to compare.
regards
ancall

Re: D-Link Router issues, Anyone?

The 604 is probably the worst router I have ever used, mine is being sent back to D-Link for the third time this week. If you can, get rid of it and get another brand.

If you have a look at the Whirlpool forums, there is a massive list of people with problems with this model.

Hi,

I know of a DI-624 that loses it's PPTP & RDP settings all the time. When swithed off, mainly I think.

Re: D-Link Router issues, Anyone?

Cheers for your help gents... It seems that the 604 is a bit of a dog.....
That and you need A+G wireless to for better streaming of T.V.

A quick search reveals the following:

Linksys WRT55AG
D-Link 7100AP (once bitten twice shy)
D-Link 784...
Netgear WGU624

Anyone had any experiences?????

Re: D-Link Router issues, Anyone?

I just got rid of my D-Link DI-624+ which in a nut shell was a complete piece of crap. I'm sure D-Link make devices that work perfectly well as wireless/ADSL/router units.....I will never find out because I believe I have found the perfect device for my needs. The Netgear DG834G. I have my Xbox 360 hanging off it wirelessly (cheers Paul) and it works beautifully.
