Re: Hibernator Localisation. Help me localise to your region!

Sorry, you are wrong. The performance counters are locale dependend. Look through the internet and you will find out, that I am right, e.g:

http://lcdsmartie.sourceforge.net/PerfPlugin.html (search for German).

Cheers,
Malte

Re: Hibernator Localisation. Help me localise to your region!

Wierd... So why when you copy the output from your machine does it display the English versions of the Metrics? and if it's happy to do that then why wouldn't it be happy to accept the English OR the German equivalents in the code.... Bizarre.....

Refresh my memory. What happened when you tried out v2.0 (with the English names)?

I'm sure you realise to that you can change the localisation file yourself to experiment to get the right order and values.

It's in c:\windows\hibernator_locale.txt. If you had the order wrong before just swap it around and try it again

Cheers,
Arkay.

P.S. I see you're online. Do you have ICQ installed? or we can chat in the chat room (click here, I'll hang out in there for a bit).

Re: Hibernator Localisation. Help me localise to your region!

Hi Arkay,

the settings I provided before are suitable for my region - unfortunately your application do not work with them .... I am using this settings for example in Smartie (LCD plugin) and they are working without any problems.

Cheers,
Malte

Re: Hibernator Localisation. Help me localise to your region!

Hi Arkay,

In one of the other threads a registry location is mentioned:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib\009

The number at the end designates the country (in the above example "009" is for english).

There's a Multi-String Value there called "Counter".
It's possible to export this key, but you can't import an altered key.
It's however possible to copy the text from the english key to the dutch key.

In holland for example the country code is 013.
So the location which designates the counters is at:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib\013

I solved the problem by copying the content from an english "Counter" and pasting it (replacing) into a dutch "Counter".

Your program Hibernator saw the counters correct now and worked fine on a dutch version of MCE 2005.

The counters are all proceeded by an instance number.

I think it's more helpfull to you if people copy the content from their localized "Counter" into a text file.
This way you have all the translated counters (in case you want to measure other things as well).

I'm including the dutch "013" and english "009" version of the counters and the corresponding help text as well.

Greetings, Theo.

Re: Hibernator Localisation. Help me localise to your region!

Hi Theo,

Fantastic post Bro! Rep points for you.

I looked high and low for somewhere where I could map translations for the perfmon metrics... Never found it.

With this info I'll be able to automate country selection.

Probably won't get done till after Christmas but it's something new to go on!

Thanks again!!!

Cheers,
Arkay.

Re: Hibernator Localisation. Help me localise to your region!

Hi everyone,

I've finished making the Hibernator locale aware (I hope).

Can those of you with non English installs please download and install this version for me. I'll be very interested to see if it works.

I've used the information from the posts above. The program should now consult the registry to obtain the correct counter names for your locale (based on numbers which I believe are consistant worldwide).

If you have problems please also attach the log file from your windows folder (hibernator.log).

Thanks.

Cheers,
Arkay.

You don´t read my answers right? Look here:

The registry keys were posted a long time ago

Nevertheless it still does not work ...

Hope this helps.

Re: Hibernator Localisation. Help me localise to your region!

Hi Arkay,

I saw an article from Microsoft which might help solve your problem, it's at the following location:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q287159/

Greetings, Theo.

P.S. I didn't try the new version yet as my system isn't having any problems anymore with standby since i've removed the wlan-adapter. But i'll make an image tonight and try your software on the system.
