But who wants to run MCE 24/7 as an administrator??? You as a Linux prophet should know...
Should know that like most things Windows you have to have admin rights to run it?

An easy fix would be to grant read/write access on those reg keys for normal users. It should then work and you're not compromising security but for a few system monitoring reg keys.

Arkay.

Re: "The Hibernator" Support and Feedback

I have a problem in that sometimes the Hibernator fails to start.

Anyone else have this prob?

i come home an the PC is running and has been for hours (I tested it) but it seems that either Windows is not firing up the screen saver, or Hibernator is not starting.

Any advice?

Will try to re-install Hibernator, I feer that this a prob with windows though..

It's windows not detecting the idle state of the machine and therefore never starting the screensaver. I've seen a few things cause that. One can stay IR from another source, the most common one is usually a stuck key on a wireless keyboard or mouse.

Easy to check. If it happens often, just unplug your keyboard or mouse one at a time and see if the problem goes away.

Arkay.

Using "Execute the following upon resume" ...

Hi,

I've been using "Hibernator" now for a few days - it does what it says on the tin :-)

However, I now want to use the "Execute the following upon resume" facility (I need to run a script at resume from Hibernate that does "devcon resscan" to fix a problem with the PS2 mouse on this system).

What I find is that when the box comes out of standby or hibernate it never runs the utility the browser box points at :-(

The user name has admin privs - but requires a logon after coming out of standby/hibernation. Could this be the problem?

TIA
Dave

Dave,

Wow. Been a while since I've posted in this thread

All I can tell you is that it does work. Though running things after resume sometimes is finicky with windows calling programs within programs etc. For devcon functions though it should certainly work. Have you tried putting the commands you want into a batch file and calling that? Also put something in the batch file to echo the date to another file so you can see if it is actually running on resume. I'd switch of the password request on resume just to be sure that isn't a factor.

Cheers,

Arkay.

OK fixed it - I had the devcon stuff in a batch file already.

What I found was that I needed to turn on "automatic logon" *AND* check the "wait for completion" box - everything then workd OK.
