Had BRP (Java) working fine on my MCE 2005, but had all the usual problems. No guide channels to assign to my HD channels, only one day of data etc. So I found the FreeXMLTV by Arkay and it works just fine, but I am having trouble integrating the data it builds with MCE. Here is what I did:
1: Uninstalled BRP and reinstalled the latest version (Java) in manual mode.
2: Copied the extracted FreeXMLTV files into C:\Windows\eHome\BladeRunnerPro\GuideData
3: From 2 ran the command line: FreeXMLTV Region=ACT HD2 VERBOSE NOCAT
4: Ran BRP
5: Jumped into MCE 2005 and tried:
a: To add listings (no listings at all)
b: To setup guide data from scratch (looks like it worked, no listings at all)
c: Told MCE 2005 to download the latest guide data (reports success, but still no listings)
I've just sourced an older version (non-Java) of BRP from Georgea, but wont have time to try it until tonight. Is this all the problem is?

Cheers,
Jeremy.
When you install the older version of BRP, install it to Automatically download listings, then follow the instructions in my post here Another EPG Eh? - FreeXMLTV
and then run Bladerunner pro as normal. No need to create a script to run everything.
It's going to be a problem with your channels.xml (or something like that) have a look at that file and do a search aroung the forum as this issue has been discussed on these posts.

George,
What I never quite understood while I was using BRP-Java, was whether I ever needed to schedule BRP to run or whether MCE caused this to happen somehow? I guess this means I don't understand "and then run BRP as normal" Can you expand or point me to a thread. These utilities are all great, but very light on the doco. I'd be happy to work on some doco if I could fully understand the process.....

Some editing of the channelinfo.xml file is required, even with the newer version of Bladerunner Pro when HD channels are included. It needs to be customised depending on your region. I will update the zip to include a channelinfo.xml file for Melbourne.

Initially when you set up BRP you need to run it once to populate the EPG data, then MCE used this data. When you install BRP in automatic mode, a scheduled task is created that runs BRP in the background every 2 days. MCE reads the location for the EPG data every so often (I'm not sure of how often) and so you end up with a self updating EPG.
So I guess when I say "Run BRP as normal" you should follow the documentation supplied originally with BRP, which says that you should install and run BPR first, then go to MCE, set up the guide, use 0000 as the post code, scan for channels then add listings to channels in MCE settings.
This distribution contains :-
replacement TVHarvest.exe
BladeRunner.exe.config
ChannelInfo.XML
1. Replace the BladeRunner.exe.config with the one in the attached zip file (see note at the end of this for config information)
2. In C:\Windows\EHome\BladerunnerPro\TVHarvest rename TVharvest .exe to TVHarvest.old and copy the TVHarvest.exe in the attached zip file in its' place.
3. If you are in Melbourne copy ChannelInfo.xml to C:\Windows\EHome\BladerunnerPro\QuickGuide (replace the older one). If your not in Melbourne then this will need editing to reflect the stations in your region.
One last question. I'm editing the ChannelInfo.xml file with the names of my local stations. The virtualchannel tag; does that need to be set to the channel number preferences that I generally set up? I use 3 for ABC and 5 for SBS and the right numbers for the others.

Thanks for all your help BTW.
That will be fine you just need to make sure they are unique
