EPGStream stopping Pay TV guides???

WTF??..

Why is it that anything useful always seems to go under?.

What to use now for Foxtel (analogue) AND FTA (digital) EPG?

Cant get onto the forums to read the post, but the link is :- http://forum.epgstream.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=441

Donated first time I used it, then again a few months ago.

Point taken DDH, but there are some of us out there that realise that this type of stuff doesnt just appear by magic!!

Re: EPGStream stopping Pay TV guides???

well that sucks. I hate ''all or nothing'' options. I wonder if theyd consider charging a small fee to cover their costs for people to use those options as an extended or 'deluxe' service.

if not, then the payTV peeps are goung to have to go the DIY route, again

*sigh*

Re: EPGStream stopping Pay TV guides???

To be honest this was and still is my biggest concern for these "free" guide services - that one day they'll work out how much work it really is and just stop...

Regards,
Shane.

It's not really all or nothing, they're just stopping doing the work for you..... the tools they've recently provided wmcGuideServiceProxy and xmltvDownload can be used to gather that information for you (without hammering their servers).

So while they couldn't sustain the cost of doing the Pay guides, they haven't left users out in the cold.

Re: EPGStream stopping Pay TV guides???

I've been using their tools to access OzTivo from day one.. what's the point in using their servers to gather data you can get direct from OzTivo anyway..

The sky is still in place.. never fear

Re: EPGStream stopping Pay TV guides???

Although my subscription for Ice continues to run for a few months yet, would anybody be willing to post a guide on how to use the tools and do the OzTivo grab for those that may have some trepidation in doing so?

It may not be hard to do but I cant comment as I will let my ICE sub elapse first before I convert.

Re: EPGStream stopping Pay TV guides???

I guess one way to see it is that only more advanced users would have the nouse to implement a pay-tv setup. it could be argued that such users have the confidence and ability to DlY. However, having a collaborative resource others can draw upon is never a bad thing. especially for newbies and people experiencing trouble with their setup...
