EPG Listing Updates

I've recently setup the EPG (FreeEPG/OZTivo).

Does the thing 'poll' continously for updates, connect to internet & updates by a shedule, or need to be manually updated by "Get Latest Guide Listings" from within VMC?

If there is a daily schedule, where is this set/controlled?

Re: EPG Listing Updates

VMC updates once a day at a random time.

Re: EPG Listing Updates

There was some tools to set the download time in MCE XP (its a reg key change). This should work on Vista, but mcupdate will come along and daily clobber your changes.

So if you want them to stick you'll need to disable the mcupdate task in the task scheduler (start the task scheduler, drill into windows -> media center, then right click and disable the mcupdate task).

In Australia mcupdate doesnt serve that much purpose (online spotlight and used during first run setup). So after first run setup, I think its fine to disable it. In the US, I wouldnt recommend it as its used for the sports feature, internet tv, etc.

Side Note (from memory): if you trigger a manual "get latest listings" it will also launch mcupdate, and so this will clobber your changes and you'll have to remake them.

Cheers

Mike
