Free EPG Does not apply to my system apparently...

I am trying to get this whole Free EPG thing on its feet, and it’s just not playing ball.

Step 1 apply Hotfix KB935685and it returns “The update does not apply to your system” So I look around to see if there are any references to TV Guids, and two key ones are missing. The first is that in the TV Menu in Media Center there is no guide, the second is in the TV Guide control page there is no “Get latest guide Listings”
If I try to set up a guide listing I get the standard “TV Program Guide listings are not available for your country or region”
I have installed Free EPG from http://epgstream.net/FreeEPG/XPMedia...6/Default.aspx I just can’t see squat.

Any one with any advice on where to look next?

Im guessing that your using Vista SP1..... Try applying the reg keys contained with the hotfix.
SP1 was shipped with the hotfix already installed. You just need to update the registry

Hope that helps

Make sure that your region and language setting in the control panel is set to Australia. This caused me a problem on a previous install

That explains why it worked first time then failed later… (though the menu entries still were not there) (Originally SP1 was not on the machine, but it has installed since)
So what/where are these registry entries of which you speak?
And I still don’t expect to see “Program Guide” entries, will try when I get home this evening…

Re: Free EPG Does not apply to my system apparently...

Thanks for that, but still no cigar…

I applied the registry settings, and checked… Nope
I repaired the EPG Install and checked… Nope
I don’t have the ability to open or update the guide still
Any other thoughts?
[EDIT]
Hmmm… just grabbed KB938927… or at least requested it and got a popup that sais it will be delivered in 8 business hours… WTF is that about?
Damned M$

Re: Free EPG Does not apply to my system apparently...

Well i fixed it, this is what i did

Uninstalled Freeepg using their uninstall
Went into the registry and deleted the epg.stream folder thing
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Media Center\Service\

Then went into c:\programdata\microsoft\ehome\epg
and deleted all the files in the root level, not the folders and one file wouldn't delete.

Restarted the machine

Reinstalled freeepg, then went into setup guide listings.
