Cant run guide setup

I am using media centre in Vista Ultimate SP1. During the original installation I ran the guide setup wizard using my postcode (4030).

I have since installed freeEPG however now I cant find where to re-run the guide setup, under TV / Guide / I only have options for Change Channel order, Edit Channels, Add listings to Channel and restore Channel defaults.

Any suggestions

Re: Cant run guide setup

Sorry if this is a silly response, but you wouldn't happen to be trying this through an extender would you?

(I don't have an extender myself, but I seem to recall reading that some of the things that aren't accessible through the extender are things such as guide setup).

Just a guess...

Re: Cant run guide setup

I think that may be a good guess about the extender. Setup is disabled for extenders. (Personally, I hope its enabled in the furture)

From memory its Tasks->Settings->Tv->Setup TV Again.

Re: Cant run guide setup

Thanks for the suggestion but no, no extenders at this stage, not that sophisticated yet !

Re: Cant run guide setup

Hi dwz

Welcome to the forum.
I think your FreeEpg installation may have failed.
Make sure you have registered with FreeEpg.
Then follow these steps.

1. Go to the FreeEPG site and download Free*EPG Setup 1.0
Download from here: epgstream.net

2. Download the file to your desktop.

3. Open Vista MCE

4. Go to settings / TV / Set up TV signal

5. Go through all the set up screens until your prompted to type your post code.
Do not type your postcode yet.

6. At this point use your mouse to minimise Vista MCE.

7. Double click on the FreeEpg setup file on your desktop. Make sure you are connected to the internet.

8. Go through the FreeEPG setup screens until finnished.

9. Exit the FreeEPG setup.

10. Maxamise Vista MCE and type your post code 4030 And hit OK.
The Vista MCE EPG set up should start downloading files allowing you to complete the setup.

When you go back to the menu your having trouble with you should see more options available.

It should look like this.

Re: Cant run guide setup

Bryce, thanks but even after running the Set up TV signal it still didnt trigger the guide setup.

Ended up-
1. removing TV card
2. reboot
3. delete all channel settings
4. re-install card
5. scan for channels
6. then guide setup was an option
7. minimise at postcode
8. install FreeEpg etc etc as suggested

Works like a treat now

Thanks all
David
