I've got similar problem as you oberg - OZTIVO worked fine, this xmltvdownload does not work with bladerunner pro 3.5. I seem to have xmltv all setup correctly - set to output to the guidedata folder etc, if i run the xmltvdownload executable by itself it's fine but when run in conjunction with bladerunner run from inside MCE i get a guide.xml error.
Bladerunner and xmltvdownload just don't seem to play well together.
Hi,
I have to ask, but how do you configure BRP3.5 to execute xmltvDownload? Do you have an error log? Is the xmltvDownload output file being created? Where folders are xmltvDownload and BRP installed to?
With xmltvDownload, if you don't actually specify a ChannelSettingsFile in it's config file, then it will look in the Current Working Directory for one. This means if BRP is running xmltvDownload with a working directory other than a folder which contains the ChannelSettingsFile then nothing may be downloaded.
i don't know; i've never needed a log so to speak. When BRP runs it has very good run-time output which is usually enough to figure out what's happening.

I do have the BRP .exe, channelinfo.xml and xmltvdownload.exe all in the c:\windows\ehome\bladerunnerpro folder.

Yes, by default it gets created in the folder from which you ran xmltvdownload. For me that is c:\windows\ehome\bladerunnerpro. For BRP to successfully get the data I did have to tell xmltvdownload.exe to output the xmltv.xml file to c:\windows\ehome\bladerunnerpro\guidedata.
All the parts are pretty simple really; but i don't think there is a start to finish guide for this as yet.

PS: For what it's worth i think XMLTVdownload is a much 'better' grabber than the OzTivo one. I like to know exactly what is going on and XMLTVdownload has excellent runtime info. Good work.

Wow, thanks for the response! One last (or is it actually two?) question ... How do you generate the channeinfo.xml file? Did you create it by hand or does a 3rd party application create it for you?

yeah.. i felt topic heading in this direction and to be honest i can't really remember. I certainly don't ever recall something making it for me, perhaps i 'made' it based on something someone posted somewhere at some stage.. it was such a long time ago now (I should add that i regularly image my media centre PC and i haven't had to do a full rebuild in years); it certainly hasn't changed much; ever. it's just there and just works.
anyhow.. to that end i will post my channelinfo.xml from home (at work atm) and post it here for people to use.

Thanks for that I was really struggling to get it to work. Being a tidy little bugger I put the down loader xmltvDownload in its own folder the argument didn't work for me so I copyed the file ChannelSettingsFile into the root of BRP and now its working.
I can't remember how BRP does its channels because I removed the channel file and only got ABC2 so I copyed it back.

Hope that kinda helps.
Thanks,
ok this is the log file from bladerunner.

s1ta this is probably a dumb question but how do you get the Bladerunner log?
Oberg.
Mate I just copied and pasted from the command line after executing bladerunner.exe (Right click in the command window choose mark - highlight the area you want then press enter. Then you can paste into forum window.)
