Some channels guide data disappears

I've been using Free*EPG on Vista (OzTivo data stream) for about a year without any issues, now for the last few weeks (maybe a little longer) abc, sbs, seven and nine will loose their accosiated data, i go into setup and add listings to channels, sort out the recordings, and its all ok for a week or so.

Nothing has changed in the config/setup of the pc, except windows updates. Weird thing is that other media centers i have setup don't have the same problem.

So anyone know how to fix this or am I looking at reinstalling Vista?

Thanks in advance for any help

Re: Some channels guide data disappears

I'm having the same problems. Usually I put it down to a reception issue, but I've been in my new house for 3.5 months now and I've only just started having problems in the last two weeks.

I thought it might have had something to do with Free*EPG changing things around with the new TenHD and SevenHD thingos, but I lost all channels but channel 10 earlier tonight.

Re: Some channels guide data disappears

I too am having the same issues - no TV channels available sometimes and loosing guide data for most channels. It seems to be something to do with the Guide data itself as I Horizon DataSys's Roll Back application installed - when I roll back the system to an early date all is well with old guide data, as soon as the new guide comes in I loose guide/channel assoications.

Maybe time to switch to ICETV guide?

Re: Some channels guide data disappears

Have you applied the KB938927 & KB935685 hotfixes (assuming Vista).

Re: Some channels guide data disappears

Same problem for me, using FreeEPG/Oztivo. Had been running fine for months and then in the last 2 months, I've had to continuously add guide listings to channels. Was a 1 weekly process, and now become a daily process.

... Have now finally changed to the FreeEPG / Free EPG feed. Has been perfect now for the last 3 days, and the quality of the data is better. Get proper support for 7HD and 10HD too. It seems that this is the recommended feed from Free EPG now. Hopefully it will stay that way.

Been getting "No Data Available" in your guide listing?
by oz@epgStream on January 15th, 2008, 11:12 pm

A few users have been approached us with a "No Data Available" problem where occassionally their channel guide listings become disassociated and they have to manually perform an "Add Listings to Channel". The was caused by a variation in our guide compilation for channel D44-ACC, which unfortunately affected all other channels intermittently.

The "No Data Available" issue currently only affects our Free-To-Air Digital (ozTiVo.net Digital) feed, and not our Free-To-Air Digital (epgStream.net Free*EPG) feed. We've put in a service change today to fix this issue so it should happy days again for those users who were experiencing difficulty.

We recommend users should use our Free-To-Air Digital (epgStream.net Free*EPG) feed, which is based on ozTiVo.net data, for better support and guide corrections.

NOTE: "No Data Available" may still occur due to poor TV signal reception or if a TV network changes some aspect of their transmission (i.e. change the channel name or frequency).
Thanks,

Re: Some channels guide data disappears

Not sure if this is related, but as of this morning I am missing 7 and 7HD using the Free*EPG feed.

Problem is, they are missing from the list when trying to add listing's to channels. It would seem that channel 7 is missing from the guide feed altogether.

Cheers,
imf

I'm also using the FreeEPG stream for free to air digital and as of this morning 7 and 7 HD are missing. When I go to add listings to channel they aren't in the list to choose from.

RE the channel 7 data, I found this on the epgstream.net forum:

I'm using the OzTivo listing and am experiencing the same problem.

It looks like the feed we extracted from ozTiVo.net was missing information "

As per usual the legends at free EPG are on the case, and I'm confident our beloved guide data will be back to normal.

I've had no problems for such a long time with my EPG.... While not trying to knock predecessors who tried their very best to build a solid guide, these guys have definitely save a lot of hair on my head since they introduced freeepg.

Cheers - Scott
