Headend Service: Unexpected Error. Code:42

Hi All,

Ive tried to setup the Free EPG package, I have installed the hotfix and the registry file and gone to setup my guide listings. I have entered my postcode etc. When it tries to download the listings I get the error:

Headend Service: Unexpected Error. Code: 42

I am using Vista Ultimate is there something im doing wrong?

Cheers

Hi!

Which postcode did you enter and which guide listing did you select (FTA or Pay)?

Thanks,

If you're in the UK, you dont need to install FreeEPG at all - the EPG is free in the UK and media center requires no modification.

Im not sure what state your machine is in now. But I'd try uninstalling the FreeEpg, deleting the disableUpdateDiscSvc reg key and then going through Setup Tv again.

Cheers

Mike

Re: Headend Service: Unexpected Error. Code:42

This error stumped me for a while but finally I spotted the problem...

The <URL> path specified in GetEPGDataMetaInfo.html pointing to guide.bin was incorrect. It specified http://localhost/Guide/GuideData/guide.bin and it should have been http://localhost/GuideData/guide.bin

I also had an error in GetTVServicesMetaInfo.html - the <service name> tab specied path="Guide/Native" and it should have been path="Native". These files are located in the BladeRunnerPro\Native directory.

Once corrected, no more Headend service unexpected error. Code:42
