Wireless expander

Really need some ideas on this so posting here

The 2.4 Ghz spectrum at my place is up the creek - NOTHING on 2.4 works very well at all. Whether its my wireless internet, baby monitor or AV Sender, they all suffer from mega-interference.

At whits end i have been looking at the Linksys WRE54G wireless expander in the thinking that it will improve signal strength and quality.

My house is small, so theres obviously something thats causing the issues that i just cannot pinpoint, but i thought that if this can strengthen the signal to the area (lounge) that we have problem with, i'm hoping i can use my laptop for what i bought it for !

Any thoughts ?

Re: Wireless expander

Stop using the same frequency for all your devices

Seriously though, you say you have three devices that use that band - throw in the houses around you and you have a mess.

You could get netstumbler and do a search of all the wireless broadcasts in your area. Then try offsetting the channel your router broadcasts on to something not used by others and see if that helps.

Re: Wireless expander

I should have been a bit more clear - in testing i've obviously made sure all other devices are switched off.
Ie, wireless is crap, even with the monitor, av sender off .

I also went and purchased a 5.8 phone too ... nothing.

I have also tried changing channels a number of times, AND installed firmware allowing me to up the transmit power on the AP, all to no avail ...
