She's right, you shouldn't have to keep playing with an MC system.

Re: Bloody Mis's

I don't really play or change our VMC but i am curious about what other people have issues with or come across or find addon's to be oihelpful. Yes i've just added IceTv and a second tuner but i tried to explain that people that replied from this site help me and saved her from missing TV because i was able fix before it became an issue

There's a difference between have to and want to. As it stands I don't have to do anything to mine, but I do like to see if there is anything new happening that can improve it or add functionality and so on. Nothing is perfect, there's always room for improvement and most on this site are interested in MC as more tahn an appliance, it's a hobby.

To answer the OP, I don't. My wife realises this is my hobby and leaves me too it - unless I'm here too long nd should be doing other things.

I think that really say's how i feel. yes i could leave it how MS tell's us it should but i see so manu fantastic different idea's from so many user that are able to add wonderful options to VMC/MC and it just adds another reason why i want to learn linux. wont be easy but nothing should. my base system will probably be windows as thats what my wife likes but the rest of the system can be different

Re: Bloody Mis's

My wife knows that boys need their toys. So long as the main MCE and server are functioning to get all the "right" shows then no problems at all. As a new cable, menu option or whiz bang thing happens she just takes the p... and then goes ahead and uses it.

The wife is currently bragging about the MCE saying how much of and how well she has been able to watch the Dulymipcs - hey she's happy, I'm happy - it works!

Re: Bloody Mis's

I don't understand, I thought MCE and VMC were all powerful and so easy/functional that all that is required is a once off setup and you don't have to do anything else, am I mistaken? I thought that was the counter argument y'all use when defending MCE or VMC against other flavours of MC, so is it now not the case?

Re: Bloody Mis's

you will get used to it, and even when it does all these wonderful things once setup, she will never remember any of them the first time a recording fails
