Pretty sure we noticed.... not 100% sure on the politics of the region, but given Georgia's location it's prime real estate...

That might be why the US is providing indirect military support to the Georgians.

The timing smells, did Russia think nobody would notice if they gave Georgia a left hook right at the beginning of the Olympics?

Bloody politics - people die and for their families it's total tragedy, but for the rest of us these days it's just another news item that interrupts the swimming - sad that we've become de-sensitised to the point of simply shrugging our shoulders and changing the channel.

Then there's a cease fire and nothing's changed - but all those families have still lost people they love.

When it comes to conflict resolution, we really are a pathetic culture - no wonder E.T. won't share his technology with us, we're simply not grown up enough to use it wisely.
