September release in Europe, yet we were advised 4th quarter in March for Aus.
I have been holding off buying another HTPC for months waiting for some official announcement from Sony.

I wonder what the EPg situation will be like for playTV here.. I know TiVo is also a sony product, so Im imagining if TiVo gets it, so does PlayTV.

Sure, we all love our hand built htpcs(win, linux whatever) but these gadgets will destroy any chance of any mainstream adoption of a pc based option. I still clearly rememebr seeing MS MCE ads on primetime TV in mexico during the last world cup... we'll never get that here, not then...not ever. We already have our TiVo ads though

Of course it can be easily argued that there was never any chance of a pc based option taking off in Oz anyway

Nah Not Me. I would be bored if I couldn't add a plugin, Hack, Transcode, Decrypte or edit something.

Those that like to tinker have been fiddling with TiVo and Ps3 plenty already

I doubt this will be any different when these products launch here.

as astro indicated blackjet, there is already a numebr of linux distros running off PS3 and Siny even tell you how to upgrade the Laptop HDD within

In Europe they've hooked up with Freeview, I'd guess that the same relationship has already been established here given that Freeview are due to appear in '09.
