SBS Knights Hill NSW

Anyone here taking a signal from Knights Hill (Illawarra)?

I've been using it trouble free since the beginning of digital.

About 8:3-0pm last night the SBS (digital) signal started going bad. Now I can't even scan or manually tune into it - no signal. All other signals are fine. SBS signal level is ~20%. Usually its around 70%. All other transmitters (ABC, WIN, PRIME, SC) are fine.

Any ideas?

TIA

Re: SBS Knights Hill NSW

Living in Adelaide, I am not sure about your problem, but I have not been able to get SBS in Adelaide since Friday either.

Tried re-scanning - got nothing (and now I have no channels in my guide).

Not sure if it is my location - a strong possibility -, if SBS have suddenly reduced their signal strength, or if there is some sort of ionic disturbance (something that does affect weak signals in Adelaide during winter)

A lot of strong winds around the Illawarra lately, might have affected something.... unfortunately, I use Brokers Nose so I'm not able to help.

That may have contributed to the problem but the real issue was the new LG 42" LCD I was fooling around with.

I have three tuner cards in the mythbuntu box + the HD tuner in the both my Philips and the new 42" LG High Def LCD we bought recently.

The signal is coming from two antennas each with a masthead amp. Essentially, each antenna serves two tuners. I'm in a fringe area so have spent considerable resources on sorting out decent signals.

I took the Philips out and put the LG in to replace it. I plugged the signal cable in, previously working well in the Philips. The other (split) signal cable was going to one of the Ultraviews in the myth box. Didn't watch SBS that day so you know what's coming. Yup, plugging a split antenna lead into an LG seriously hurts your signal levels and quality. It seems to suck the ether right out of the airways. Forget about splitting the signal. On a windy day it was enough to stop SBS working down here.

Plugging a dedicated signal lead into the LG had SBS behaving OK.

So, it looks like the LG goes into the spare room and the Philips stays.

Cheers
