New TV Series - Legend of the Seeker

Legend of the Seeker

Come November the 1st, there will be a new TV Series airing in the US. It will have swords and sorcery, violence and betrayal, sex and politics, all the things that usually make for brilliant TV, but many people will hate it because the counter to the former will be individualism, capitalism, rationality and above all else a sense of life.

The TV series follows a series books written by Terry Goodkind called the Sword of Truth series and is set in a mythical sword and sorcery land where magic exists but the heroes and heroines foremost weapons are their minds and their ability to use logic and reason, the stories are not about swords, magic or world building they are about the characters, how they think and how they act on what they think, and most importantly how individualism is better than collectivism, capitalism is better than ... anything else.

The 22 Episodes of the first season follow the first book in the Sword of Truth series, Wizards First Rule.

Terry Goodkind as well as being one of the most successful writers of his genre is also a student of the philosophy of Ayn Rand, the philosophy of Objectivism.

Re: New TV Series - Legend of the Seeker

It's also a freakin' series of books (re-reading Naked Empire right now)..... don't agree with some of the concepts, but this should make a good TV series!

edit: Post of the week for you

Re: New TV Series - Legend of the Seeker

Looks good - hopefully it won't be too Xena'ry.

Looks like it's got a fair budget.

Re: New TV Series - Legend of the Seeker

Considering the author is heavily involved in the production, I wouldn't imagine so. I've thought many a time that the books would make a good series, so I hope this is a good one.

A lot of Australian/NZ actors in it as well - Bruce Spence, Jay Laga’aia, Craig Horner, although this quote from the site

Quote:
Chase, a loyal and fearsome member of the Councilor's Guard;
- is interesting. Chase is a boundary warden, not a Guard..... oh, I'm sounding like one of the Lord of the Rings geeks.

Re: New TV Series - Legend of the Seeker

It's going to be interesting to see if they include some bits. Like when the Richard (the hero) kicks in the face of an eight year old girl. (rightly so I might add)

Re: New TV Series - Legend of the Seeker

Anyone have news of when and what channel this may come to us on? Im a member of the TG boards, where they have all the info passed on from the Author himself, but theres still nothing about when and where us aussies can see it. Full channel and time list for about every state, with canada and UK too, but not here.

Channel BT is available everywhere in the world, the same programs show on it at exactly the same time no matter where you are.

Channel BT = Channel Bit Torrent!

I believe one of our broadcasters has picked this up, in typical Oz TV style I believe the aim for picking up the broadcast rights is to stop the other channels getting it, NOT to actually broadcast it.
