MKV/AVC/h264 Editing Apps - Where Are They?

I struck an MKV where the video locks up about 2/3 of the way through (AC3 sound keeps going), so I started looking for an MKV/AVC/h264 editor/repairer along the lines of VideoReDo - does such a thing exist?

It's not like it's a format that appeared yesterday & it's certainly the format of the future, so why can't I find anything? There's a million tools to convert to MKV, so why aren't there editing tools?

I'm trying Avidemux at the moment, but I'm not sure if it can repair files or not.

Any tips or apps you could point out would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Justin

Are you sure the file is broken? - I would suspect it's more likely that you need to update one or more of your codecs. This has always been the case for me when a file had issues.

Yeah, it's broken. I just cut the video in in 2 with Avidemux (pretty nice BTW) & the 1st 2/3 was 1.34GB, while the last 1/3 (the broken bit) is only 83MB. Looks like the f'up fairy visited the original encoding.

BTW, tried CoreAVC, FFDShow & VLC (self contained codecs) before I got to the point of editing.
