Good to see he's thinking of the positives that can come from technology that's not going away any time soon! A few more like him and we might even see a new business model for making $ start to appear. I'd say the $ required for product placement will just keep going up and up.

If they set a reasonable price for DL for an episode - like 99c - I will buy.
Some years will pass until they will get the idea. Pity. 10,000,000 downloads means the same amount of dollars.

For now I will DL it for free.

Rather that 99c per episode I'd pay for a "season pass" up to 1/2 the going rate for the boxed DVD release with no ads except maybe for the website/distributor, that seems fair to me.

This is the sort of new business model people need to try. I know I'd do this for various shows. No need to go out and shop physically, no need to wait for episodes, etc, etc.

Sadly given how some will share anything there would need to be some sort of copy protection to stop one download and then free distribution. Did I just advocate digital rights protection

You did!
Again, reasonable pricing.
When studio is getting 1 Billion dollars from one movie, it is not just profit making - it is an opportunistic robbery.
Roman emperors were giving lions and Christians to people for free.

Re: Heroes, Lost and bittorent a co-producer POV

Reasonable pricing lessens the requirement for copy protection.

If I could download an episode of a TV show for say $1, as soon as it has aired, and then had the rights to play it on whatever device I wanted, I would purchase them instead of using alternative methods.

I wouldn't share it, because I've paid for it....

No its not, its charging whatever price the market will bear, if there was no one willing to pay that price then it would have to be lowered. its that simple.

Then people will steal. If they low the price down they could get more money from volume.
It is happening now with music industry and will happen with video.
