Talking New Theme for Vista Media Center (5231 MCE)

This has been a project I have been working on and off for for the past month and After Days of going in and out of Resource Tuner and MCE here is My Vista MCE 5231 theme. This theme is different to my other theme as it requires no third party application to make it work and this version has allot more changes to make it fit into the 5231 style this version includes-

-5231 Style Buttons (white)
-New Now playing Music Screen
-New Background overlay
-Modified top and bottom bars
-and much more

How to install: Take ownership of ehres.dll found at %WinDir%\ehome
rename ehres.dll to ehres.dll.bak then cut and paste the ehres.dll from the download link below.

Download Here

Comments and feedback welcome

This is Only available for Vista Media Center

Re: New Theme for Vista Media Center (5231 MCE)

nice work JN ! Does theme/method replaces your default theme ?? Is there any way to get back to the default ??

@Fraser - if you havent given the black theme of mediacenterfx a try, I *highly* recommend it !! If youve been always wanting a decent black theme - this is it !! mcfx is currently a free public beta - check the Vista plugins thread for more info

behold! (suits my samsung LCD perfectly)

yes it dose replace the original but it is simple as deleting the modded ehres.dll and renaming the ehres.dll.bak back to ehress.dll. I might start work on a black stand alone theme tonight

Re: New Theme for Vista Media Center (5231 MCE)

Just a quick question do you like the main menu buttons in colour or white as I have been working on a theme to give the feel of Apple TV and I could finish it tonight and upload it whilst removing the "apple" branding i put into it. Let me know

BTW what type fo display are you using as I can add the Samsung or Bravia branding onto it to make it look as if it is part of the TV

In your playing round with the dll files, have you found a way to alter the menus.

I know a number of users would prefer to scroll up to video and pictures and have videos selected rather than have to scroll sideways as well. (ie most users use the video option more than the pictures).

have I made sense???

It looks suspiciously like the xTV skin for XBMC. Jesus can't MS do anything without copying other companies work.

Xerox has a lot to answer for.

I know exatually what you mean but I cant find a way to do it I have tried a few different things over the past few days. I can remove/hide buttons move there position in the line but I cant seem to get a MCE 2005 layout. This will not stop me thow

BTW Give me another day for the "Black Theme" I ended up doing a total over haul of the skin
